For this project, I designed an Animated Beautiful Machine (ABM) as a moving mechanical eye. An ABM is a mechanical device that amplifies human effort while producing a visually pleasing and surprising output motion. It integrates mechanical components to create captivating movements, designed to be aesthetically beautiful even when not in use.
In my design, a crank mechanism controlled the eye's pupil and eyelid, generating a dynamic and interactive motion. The mechanical components were deliberately visible to enhance the overall visual appeal while maintaining functional motion. This project explored the balance between aesthetics and mechanics, offering an intriguing experience for the viewer through both form and movement.
